I Demand a Novella be Written!
An intrepid scientists finds a way to jump into parallel universes. He teams up with a television producer who creates an "alternate reality TV" series where contestants live for a few months in the alternate reality. First season, America stays a British colony. Second season, Rome never falls to the Visigoths. Third season, ratings falter and they introduce a gimmick: players have to figure out what distinguishes the reality they're sent to from our own.
