So, I cancelled our subscription to the Star Tribune today - we only got the Sunday paper, and for a few months now we haven't really read through it or used the ads or anything. I figured, heck, let's save the money and cancel... get all our news online, anyway.
I expected the customer service guy to try to convince me not to cancel, but he didn't. It was a little weird, actually, he just processed it right away but sounded really beat down. This is the first time I've cancelled something and felt bad about it - I know their circulation is down, and I'm sure they're experiencing economic issues like every other business. I actually feel a bit bad about not supporting our local news workers. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they have layoffs in the future, since everyone seems to be doing it... I just hate the idea that I contributed to that, even if it's in a tiny tiny way.
Argh. Ah well. It's saving us money, which is good since
williamofoccam's new internship means he had to drop to part time at his current job. I'm just glad they're letting him stay on at part time and not letting him go.
