The Queensway-Carleton Hospital is doing a crap-tonne of hiring for porters. There must be about 12 positions for part-time and casual porters, mostly evenings and weekend hours with some days. Pay scale is 19.65/hour to 21.03/hour. CUPE union position.
A porter basically means you're an errand person. You deliver charts/patients/bloodwork whatever as required from location to location within the hospital by foot.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The transportation of patients, patients' charts, specimens, requisitions, clean and soiled supplies and equipment throughout the hospital.
added responsibilities may include working in other areas of the department at the workload requires
Emergency response (this means giving CPR if a patient collapses while you're transporting them)
Demonstrate QCH values: accountability, innovation, respect
REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 education
current CPR certification
must pass functional testing relating to essential physical demands of job
must be proficient with english language and able to fully communicate in both written and spoken format
must be able to work independently and as part of a team
have an aptitude for dealing with public
current successful N-95 mask fit testing (they will do that here on site once hired)
must provide own safe foot wear as per Safety Policy
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of inventory products
Basic computer skills
