State of the Union 2015, and Hair
I like Obama's speech tonight. I normally don't particularly care for them, and feel like he talks down to his audience a little. But tonight was fine, and very inspirational. I like idealism.
The pundits later said it was kind of out of whack with reality, and I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed. I liked Obama's version better. :)
I also just watched a Dove shampoo commercial on how young girls, in particular, hate their curly hair. It's kind of crazy. I thought everyone loved curly hair. But these girls (6 or so) kept trying to straighten it. I actually got kind of emotional, for 2 reasons. These children were so fragile and they remind me of my brother. He has curly hair and hates it. Worse, he was born with straight hair, and it became curly as he became older. It really freaked him out. Many years later, and as part of watching a shampoo commercial, I got a better sense of what it must have been like for him.
