As if he'd heard his name, Reid came out of the bedroom and marched past them to the kitchen. "I'm hungry. Is there any food here?"
"I don't know, Reid. Neither of us has looked," Nathan said patiently but rolled his eyes at Luke.
Reid didn't bother to reply as he rummaged through a cabinet and came

I think when Luke realized he cost Reid his job, the past five minutes sort of got zapped from Luke's brain for a while. Now he thinks he's got a reason for why Reid's been a big ol' jerk.
Nathan, I'm willing to give a pass to. He's being loyal, and I don't think he'd agree with Reid's comment but since it's Luke that's out there claiming never to have hurt Reid, Luke gets to hear about it. If Reid had hung around, Nathan may have grilled him a bit.
Luke being Luke is going to feel guilty of course. And unfortunately, from his perspective, there's a bit of truth in Reid's accusations, which is why he isn't asking Reid a ton of questions. Luke was taking money to pretend to be Julian's boyfriend. He didn't sleep with Julian, but I think he still feels a bit ashamed that he did it at all, particularly when the whole "save Grimaldi" scheme didn't come to fruition. Reid doesn't think his comments are really making much of a dent in Luke, but sadly, they hurt a lot more than he could possibly expect.
There's a lot of time spent in the cabin. This is just night 1. Day 2 involves a lot of cheesiness/soapiness/romance/etc that I hope mends some fences. An entire day spent together will be something like five times as many hours as they've spent together since Reid moved to Oakdale. And if it's another night, then they'll have equaled the time they spent at that mansion. Kind of a weird thought that they've had so precious little time together, but perhaps that's why it's so easy for Reid to believe the worst.
I've dug myself into a couple of holes that I'm having trouble writing myself out of without completely changing the plot, so we'll see what happens. This is what I get for posting before I've completed a work--freaking unintended consequences. Should there be sex, I will have to think very hard about a) what would motivate either of them to have it in the first place, and b) what their reactions afterwards will be like. Perhaps Reid should just come down with a rare Oakdale disease and the only cure will be sex...just kidding, even I wouldn't go there.
Thank you!
