Wide World O' Sports

Well, depending on your definition of "sports"

So I was at the gym tonight, doing my time on the elliptical machine, listening to the ipod, intermittantly watching the telly and the machine. They had the TV on ESPN and they were showing the X Games. Tonight's exciting event was the BMX vert ramp competition. It wasn't really anything great, and most guys took some fierce spills, but the most striking thing about it was that all the BMXers looked like slightly younger Henry Rollinses. They were all pushing 30, sporting some really dated clothing, and some even had to shave their heads to hide their receding hairlines. It was shocking. You'd think that all the people competing in the EXTREME GAMES would be young enough to make me feel geriatric at 23, but it's not so... Are kids these days just not all about the skateboard, the bike and the not-annoying-at-all motorcross?

In other news, there is no other news. I'm seriously considering a late summer-early fall trip to The Ashram to get a great tan and lose all kinds of weight. Picture this: a day of hiking followed by a meal of a boiled egg white and half a stalk of celery and a massage. That's living! Alright people, I'll shut up now.
