List five of your own idiosyncrasies (tagged by incandescens1) I couldn't read a map (in the sense of visualising how it corresponded to a 3D environment) until I was twelve. Wow. Whereas I probably learned to read a (contour) map at just about the same time I learned to read *period*. And we've always had maps hanging up on the walls of our apartment: world and US in Moscow, world and Russia in New York...Which isn't *quite* the same thing, but...

Oh, I could "read" a map (in the first grade I remember having to pass a map-reading unit XD). Here's a lake, fifty kilometers between this point and this point as the bird flies, go two blocks and turn left to get to Elm Street, all that. I just couldn't... stand in the street and mentally rotate what I saw to get an "overhead view", or vice-versa. Basically, I didn't really grok the difference between "north" and "up" until I was twelve.
