This weekend I went to St. Louis to help Foca move and get his apartment set up. He is getting his MBA at Wash U in St. Louis. ( A day earlier, I helped my buddy Nick move from his Wrigleyville Flat, which was a workout. We had 44 steps to his third floor flat. Luckily Foca's move was easy, he did all the hard work.)
I like his apartment, it was pretty decent for a 1 bedroom, and is a good location. The first thing I noticed when I parked my car near his apartment was the poor parallel parking of the residents. I mean these people's tires were repelling curb like they were magnets. Most cars were so far off the curb you would not risk the distance between them on 4th down if you were a NFL coach. I am talking over 1 yards, or a little person!
Also their driving was not better either. On a popular street, two blocks away from the apartment, we saw a SUV hit a pedestrian trying to cross. There were scores of witnesses, but the driver just let the car sit for about a half minute, and then tried to move out. This caused a few people to pound on the hood, but the grit of the driver would prevail as tshe finally drove off. Most would call this a hit and run, but I think they were just trying to parallel park the car, and like any good St. Louis resident, it had to by 7.6 miles away from the curb.
