Missive From Montreal II: Superstar

Neil Gaiman is a rock star. The man can't step into an elevator without being mugged by adoring fans. At one of the parties here, someone was giving out bottles of soda with his face printed on the labels. I hardly know him, but he seems like a sweet guy - a good sport who's willing to put up with a lot in order to please his readers. And obviously he's an amazing writer. I find the groupie thing to be bizarre and fascinating. Writing can be such a solitary profession. It must be unnerving to find that you're the object of such devotion, even if you've been working hard for years at building a career.
