It's National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, and one of the wildest kind of event that groups of crazy writers take part in during November is the All-Night Write-In. Typically, these events last from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and take place at an all-night diner such as an IHOP. But over the weekend, we had an All-Night Write-In at a different kind of venue, my new house!
We haven't actually moved into the new house yet. And it does not have a lot in the way of furniture and other amenities. So I brought over a card table and some chairs, and someone else brought a second card table. Despite the lack of furniture, Saturday night's All-Night Write-In was great fun, and productive as well.
We had eight writers altogether, though not everyone was there at exactly the same times. The majority was there for most of the evening, though two people came well after midnight and stayed through to the end. In fact, six of the eight of us were still there at 6 a.m. And there was Halloween candy. And pizza. And hummus. And apple pie..... And did we mention the Writer's Block Pinot Noir?
The writers who participated in our night of awesome craziness were my very first overnight guests in the new place. Also, I got 5,417 words written. A real blast, and a great success!
