This afternoon in our backyard we spotted a Cooper's Hawk! At least, that's what my husband thought it was. I'm no expert, but I did some research, and I believe he's right.
This magnificent bird was perched on top of the compost bin, watching us and the yard. It was 16 to 18 inches long, with slate-gray back feathers, a tan and white breast, and brilliant red eyes.
