Save The Cheerleader. Save The World

Have you seen the NBC show Heroes? Since it started, enough friends have recommended it to me that I finally decided I had to see this thing for myself. It seemed like the kind of show you really must watch from the beginning, so I recently ordered the first DVD of Season One from Netflix. Ohmigosh. What a great show! I've run through the first few disks already and eagerly await the next one, which will probably arrive tomorrow.

So, if you could have a superpower, which one would it be? I think I'd like to fly, like Nathan Petrelli. (Besides, his last name is so much like mine....) I also want to manipulate space and time, like Hiro. Who wouldn't? Think of all the money you'd save on airfare. And Masi Oka is so wonderful as Hiro. I'm glad there's at least one hero on the show who is thrilled to have a superpower. Everyone else seems so tortured about their abilities (though some, like Nicki and Isaac, have good reason to be). Then there's Charlie the waitress at the diner. I know, we saw her for only a day (though Hiro went back in time to spend six months with her before she died). I can see some real advantages in being able to remember absolutely everything I ever read, as Charlie could. And wasn't that the same actress who also played a character named Charlie on one of my other favorite shows, Ugly Betty?

I definitely do not want to have an Evil Twin reflection who can jump out of the mirror to possess me and do despicable deeds. And hearing other people's thoughts would get really annoying after the novelty wore off.

superpowers, heroes, television
