The weather here is absolutely beastly. Seriously, we left Singapore for a damn reason. I have five outfits for the month! I refuse to sweat!
But I get ahead of myself. To recap: we hated the monochromatic Warsaw, where every single person we met was either unfriendly, out to fleece us, or some mind-boggling combination of both. I really wish we'd set aside more time for the Baltic states though, Latvia in particular looked really gorgeous (and CLEAN). And who knew Estonia (population: 1.3 million) was the home of Kazaa and Skype? Call me, Tallinn!
The weather in St Petersburg was pretty excellent, and the service there veered from really friendly to downright rude. Most of the extremes could be located in the hostel we stayed in. The language barrier pretty much ensured that all we ate while we were there was fast food. And borsch. There was a lot of borsch. Strangely enough, despite this place being the home of beef stroganoff, we have yet to see it appear on a single menu here. This might be because the menus we've been looking at generally include Big Macs and Zingers on their lists, but, you know, I'm still hoping.
Alright. We've been in Moscow for less than a day and already the stumbling drunk tally (them, not us) is at 3. This morning, we were accosted by a crazy strung out drunkard trying to get us to go to his apartment with him. It was not the best of welcomes. Ah well.
