My God, I feel out of the loop. I guess this is what you get when you don't go online for almost a week.
I did go to college in my pyjamas on Friday. Well, I wore jeans for the actual journey there, and for the exam (which I think went really badly, but never mind), and then I got changed.
That evening I went for a Chinese meal with some friends, then for cocktails. It was a great night until I decided to go out with Kitten. Ugh. Nightmare. Shouldn't have done it - I wasn't in the mood, was already drunk, etc. Ended up being really horrible (the night, not me). I won't go into the details, but I'm quite annoyed with her and I have a vendetta against heterosexual men. Except my dad, who is a mensch, and maybe the bartenders at TGI Friday's. Other than that, they can fuck off to their own special department of hell, so that I never have to see them again.
Went to the Hay festival on Saturday. It rained. We ended up leaving on Sunday night, when we were intending to stay until Monday afternoon. We were sleeping in a tent in the woods. I could probably have managed it, but my mother is practically an old lady now, and she had to drive as well, so we cashed in Monday's tickets and fled. It was good while it lasted, though - has anyone seen Scott Capurro's stand-up? He's a fucking nutter. Some people clearly didn't get it - either they walked out, or they came out at the end saying "I thought that Chinese section was a bit iffy, didn't you?", which - as you'll know if you've actually seen him perform - is a terrifying reaction. He's hilarious, though.
I asked Esther Freud a question during one of those Godawful Q&A sessions. I felt so embarrassed. I have no idea why I did that.
I read Sleep With Me by Joanna Briscoe the other day - arguably it belongs to the growing 'Crazed Lesbian Stalker' genre, but it's much more psychologically complex and sympathetic than that, and it's very well-written. Also, as far as I know, Briscoe is a lesbian herself. So I'd recommend it.
I'm broke, but I really want to buy the new Patti Smith and Grinderman albums... and I think there was something else I wanted, too. Oh, well.
