For Table Prompt #19 - "Stars"

It was late and Heidi walked upstairs to check in on her children before heading to bed herself. She smiled when she peaked into Monty's room and saw her youngest hugging the toy tiger she had favoured herself when she was little. Moving up to the next door she looked into Simon's room only to find Simon wasn't there. Heidi sighed and walked up the stairs to the roof where she found her son walking along the roof ledge.

She crossed her arms, not taking too kindly to the chill "If I had a nickel for every time I had to talk a Petrelli down off a roof..."

Simon smirked "You'd be a rich woman, mom." he finished for her and hopped down, walking over.

"What are you doing out here anyway?"

Simon shrugged "Just thinking about dad." Simon idolised his father, something that came tumbling down when he learned Sylar had been posing as Nathan for years now.

Heidi gave Simon a warm smile and ruffled his hair "Your father was a good man Si, what happened..." It was still painful for her to speak of, the fact that they had all been taken in and had lived with Nathan's killer was sometimes too much to bear. "Look at the stars Si, your dad and I used to go for midnight picnics he used to love looking at the stars."

Simon could understand that, the stars brought with them a calm he had not felt all the time they were in Washington.

Heidi gave Simon a hug "You're safe here, Sylar wouldn't dare come after us and if he does your Uncle Peter and I are here to protect you and your brother."

Simon smiled and leaned into her hug, his mother always gave great hugs.

"I see so much of your father in you both." Heidi only wished Nathan could have seen what handsome, brave young men they had become. "Now can I get you to go to bed?"

Simon nodded "Yeah, okay. I love you mom."

Heidi smiled "I love you too, baby. Off you go."

She watched him head back downstairs and followed shortly after.
