I've been thinking about it, and I have to be. Why? Well, for one, I like using PK-Sebacean cursing.
Nah, that's just me being your usual geek.
The real reasons I'm messed in the head?
1. I think Shakespeare is funny. Yes, even the tragedies, and the problem plays. The tragedies are hard to explain, but the problem plays? They "Prove" (By which I mean "theory I've adopted that may-or-may-not be true") that Shakespeare absolutely hated his audience, the medium he worked with, and all the tropes required. What I'm saying is, they're funny because they aren't. They subvert all expectations of the audience written for leaving them unsatisfied. The reason why Taming of the Shrew is so "Modern"? Because the genre it was in was usually much more brutal and Petruchio just managed to find a conveniently common kink between him and Kate (even if it took her a while. Pet fell for her because he noticed they had the same kink.) Like I said, this is all conjecture on my part, but it's why I love it. Even if I am then belittled for liking the drivel he writes.
2. I'm enjoying the Iliad. Like in a serious, not-do-I-have-to way. It's kickass. Very much so. Paris is the buttmonkey, Odysseus and Diomedies are Battle Snarkers, Achilles is a whiny little bitch who just wants to take his toys and go home, and there's a lot of dialogue about the politics of war, and while it will occasionally go into long stretches of "This guy killed that guy", I skim until I see quote marks, go back a bit, to figure out who's saying it to whom. Those quotes are often deliciously snarky. (Meaning that Odysseus is now voiced by Dough Erholz in my head.)
