Orochimaru watched the scene unfold from the same position he was in before. His eyes danced over the scene, as if he were delightedly pulling the strings of marionettes from above the stage, watching the scene unfold. He had to restrain himself from immediately stepping in. It was all so comical! Though, as his gaze shifted to the events between Ash and Tobi playing out, the lightheartedness he felt hardened a little. There was a reason he was here.

It was time to resolve this unfinished business.

Within seconds, he'd executed Tsu No Tachi, the signature technique in which he drew a somewhat sword which gave off a ghostly divine aura. Clenching the hilt tightly, he darted toward the scene between Tobi and Ash. Orochimaru leaped into the air, swinging the blade over his head and falling toward the now grounded Tobi. Perhaps the shinobi would teleport once again, but this time around… he had Ash. Sakon and Ukon were also there for supporting attacks and distractions. They would be a formidable asset as well. Tobi wouldn’t be getting away so easily.

Deidara on the other hand, also found himself immediately jumping into action. Though there was a part of him that kept his partner in mind, he apparently had an old friend to face: Gaara. His lips curled into a thin smirk as he allowed his misty blue eyes to fixate on his foe. Already, his hands were clamped together, molding together a little drabbled work for his enemy. He was going to start out small, and eventually end this battle with a magnificent bang… but he wanted to play first.

((At this point I’m going to say things are a free for all. It’s understandably hard to keep up with this. Just add who you are tagging your attack to in the subject line. Some of it can be backlogged until earlier in the event if you have trouble keeping up, no problem.))

He muttered the name of his opponent inside his mind only, and then calmly gazed at Deidara with little to no reaction on his expression. Gaara didn't see any point in wasting time with greetings, and it wasn't like they were acquaintances or anything resembling such a bond.

Once Gaara was grounded, the tiny grains swiftly left his gourd and began to swirl around their wielder in a protective ring. He remembered full well how the blond Akatsuki ninja had managed to defeat him in the previous fight, and he certainly had no intentions to make the same mistake.

Gaara was way too quiet. That was the problem with the last fight they had too. Deidara really did enjoy hearing the reactions of his opponents, but at the same time, a silent battle made best in regards to strategy. He didn't expect the fight with the Sand nin to be an easy one. In fact, he was a bit peeved by Tobi's preoccupation. Though, his partner was fighting Orochimaru.

Damnit.

"You're not going to be as fun as one of the legendary Sannin," Deidara muttered, tossing one of his newly made clay balls up and then catching it. "But I guess you'll do."

That said, he snapped his wrist forward, throwing the first clay ball toward the ground at Gaara's feet. He merely want to start out with a little buzz to... heh, cloud things up.

There was no need for Gaara to restrain himself on this terrain, not when he didn't need to worry about the safety of his people, and surely, his allies would be able to take care of themselves in this instance.

"Hrmp." Gaara scoffed lightly, his eyes watching the blond ninja acutely as he tossed the little clay ball up and down, like he was playing a game instead of being engaged in a fight.

Seeing the projectile come toward his position, the redhead jumped back out of the way, and when the clay ball exploded on the ground, his sand came together to form a thin shield - no need to use more chakra than necessary, after all.

Responding to the attack, Gaara lashed his arm out toward Deidara to send a thin stream of sand flying through the air, heading right for him.

Deidara of course, wasn't attempting to actually hit Gaara. He merely wanted to block his vision while he stirred up soemthing more fitting for the situation. Unfortunately, the Kazekage was a bit too swift at the moment, and shielded the blasts.

The Akatsuki member jumped to the side, but it wasn't enough to dodge the attack. Deidara was blown backwards from the thin stream of sand. He grunted wearily and panted from the effort of picking himself up after that hit.

"D-damn it, un." He grunted, finally shifting into a standing position. "I guess your taste for art has changed a little, heh." He straightened himself up, and in a matter of seconds had conjured something else up. What appeared to be nothing more than a finicky little squirrel was no frantically bounding toward Gaara.

"Maybe this will suit you better," he snorted.

Having fought this particular opponent before and suffering a defeat right in front of his people, the young Kazekage was far more alert and on-guard during the present instance. He had no intentions of losing this time, and his control over the sand was as sharp as ever - he would frequently change usage of the tiny grains in order to prevent his defenses from being penetrated. It would take up more chakra to do that, however, so he made a mental note to only resort to that tactic in the appropriate situation.

Gaara knew better than to trust anything that came from the art-loving shinobi, and the little squirrel looked harmless, but of course, it had the same effects as those dangerous birds Deidara was fond of creating before.

Ignoring the comment, the red-haired ninja fixed the scampering creature with a cold gaze, and while there was still some distance before impact, he created a small sphere of sand and threw that directly at the squirrel, hoping to make it explode right on the spot.

While that was being taken care of, a clone of himself formed from the pile of tiny grains that gathered at his feet, and once standing erect, it rushed toward Deidara, carrying a torrent of sand.
