Why I love the East Coast more than I love the Midwest, part #473920:
So I went to the mall yesterday with my family, and granted, it was something of a press crowd with it being Black Friday and all, but in the course of two hours, I spotted:
Eight Yankees caps
Four Bosox caps (for the record: three of the four spotted while near whitebread suburban stores like A&F and the Limited)
One Yankees window applique on the rear view window of a car in the parking lot
One Yankees sweatshirt
One Bosox shirt
One Astros t-shirt
Three Atlanta caps
Three Phillies caps, including one on a little stuffed dog that an eight year old girl carried around
One ChiSox hat
Sure, some of these kids are just sporting the Yankee brim because Fabolous told them to, but it was still amazing, particularly compared to the Midwest diet of YOU'RE A CHUMP IF YOU'RE NOT WEARING THE LOCAL TEAM and maybe a couple of out-of-states zipping by in Oakland or Yankees caps. I miss ethnic minorities. I miss kids in saggy jeans. I miss fabulous princesses in D&G boots and dimestore weaves, and I mean, AE was playing Run DMC's "Christmas Is" by way of holiday music.
I was standing in line for a fitting room when that came on, and I was just absolutely transfixed at the greatness of it all. The East Coast. I love it.
