As part of an interesting, interesting series about how stats are working with scouting in one of the lamest-seeming front offices in baseball, the Cincy Post put out an article featuring a chunk of this:In 2004, according to the Bill James Handbook, Dunn ranked seventh in the National League in OPS against fastballs (1.113) and changeups (1.035 ( Read more... )

When David Wells balks in a run, and then TRIES TO ACT PROFESSIONAL ABOUT IT.

I understand that he spent a year in San Diego chilling far from the Madding Crowd, exploring the high quality California vegetation, but DEAR LORD MAN you've been here before....ACT IT.

I mean fail at pitching (nothing like seeing a 40 yo shaking off his catcher who's calling for a fastball) but don't look like you're Casey Fossum just realizing that you're in the big leagues.

*laughing* Yeah, the apocalypse is surely coming! David Wells, acting like a grownup! I did feel a little sorry for him because I'd read those articles where he talked about how much he wanted Yankee fans to love him despite the Boston uni, but I'm glad he was sloppy and couldn't locate his breaking stuff. ^_^

i was so like that, too. people were talking about the NCAA final four and i'm like, huh? there's something other than Yankees-Red Sox going on? everyone else's world isn't revolving around this game?

dude. i am so determined to find SOMEbody to watch yankees games with me. jesus god, there have to be more yankees fans here than me. why can't i find any of them?! i need someone else to act psychotically schizo during the games with me so my roommate doesn't think i'm the biggest nutjob in the world.

and on the laugh-worthy subject, how about damon's miscue in the outfield? or halama's bill buckner moment? side-splitting moments throughout!

p.s. you totally don't have to, but i and a few blog friends (including the lj-departed lupe_velez) have started an all-yankees blog over at new york state of and someone suggested we invite any other hard-core yankee fans to contribute if they wish (they want to have 9 people, sort of like a starting line-up. cute, huh?). i figured i'd give you the offer, and you don't have to feel committed to blogging ( ... )

In all honesty, on-and-off-screen girlfriend? The scream I let loose when they brought Bubba in to pinch-run was rather embarrassing. Also: Tino Martinez. CONSTANTINO. MARTINEZ. Though he did nothing of importance, there are still no words. NONE. AND MY BOY BATTED .500 LAST NIGHT.

I wish Trot Nixon would break his fool neck. Why any Boston fans would read your blog is beyond me; the rageahol level is going to be exponential this year.

Oh, A-Rod. At some point during that night when I was in one of my many fits of screeching delight, I yelled out something like "OKAY SO MAYBE YOU COUNT AS A YANKEE THIS YEAR." You could feel the hostility from the Red Sox fans in the bar. :D

:| That's not the only place you're going to feel the hostility from.

Not to lure you with an utterly different sport entirely (not hockey, not baseball, not even basketball!) but holy crap, Petitio, look at this.
