DANIEL BRUHL SPECIAL: THE WHITE SOUND

Feb 08, 2010 18:22

D: Hans Weingartner
Daniel Brühl, Anabelle Lachatte, Patrick Joswig.

Kati, Jochen and Lukas take a trip with magic mushrooms. Lukas is not coming back. (imdb.com)

I knew watching these movies would be good for something. I have found the reason why I like Daniel Bruhl so much. Are you ready? In this movie, he looks 95.9% like my crush/friend/almost-something at Uni (including the fact that they're both left-handed). Whatever happened to that guy? TMI. Moving on...

It's very amateur-looking film, almost like a regular documentary, from the position of the camera to the lighting, to editing. Looks like a first movie, although I don't know if it is (for the director). It does get better as it goes, though.

It is also, basically, what the summary tells you. Lukas has some magical mushrooms and then voices are inside his head, and he's going nuts and acts paranoid for the entire movie. He's diagnosed with schizophrenia, so we see him deal with that, but this is no Lifetime movie about a disease, it's the journey of a young man who tries to move on and live with the voices in his head, no matter how scary that is.

It's a bit slowish, but I don't mind it much. It's, overall, a nice film if you want to see Daniel Brühl's earlier work. Which I did. :)

Overall: Enjoyable but I wouldn't watch it again.
