v22 he put all things in subjection under his feet, gave him as head over the church

v4 holy and blameless before him

v6 to the praise of the glory of his grace
v11 predestined according to his purpose, after the counsel of his will

**point of this story? this is all about what god has done FOR US, not about what we could or should do. he did all of these things. he did all of these things through christ. none of these things could have been done without christ. through christ, god has done everything that needs to be done in order to reconcile our relationship with him...we don't have to do or not do anything. and god did all of this to the praise of his glory...ie, to show us what kind of god he really is...not a mean, fun-killing, hateful controlling god, but a loving, wise, self-sacrificial powerful god who is willing to bend over backwards in order to have a relationship with us. nice.
