SAFE collecting..
Went collecting for SAFE today with violet_crumble. Its amazing how funny your knees feel after 2 hours or standing still. We had a pretty good spot & four or five people donated $5 each..so all up we probably collected $50-60 for the animals..yay!!
I was given some antlers to wear, which were a bit annoying, as they kept blowing off in the wind. However, they did cause several children to stare up at me in awe, and one wee girl said 'hi, reindeer'. It took a few seconds to realise she was talking to me, oops.
We also had a little girl come up to us & ask if she could have a sticker, so we said, sure, if you can give us some money. She said no, she just wanted the sticker, so we had to refuse her one. I'm sure she'll figure the concept out in a few years time..
The funniest thing that happened was when a little boy walked up to me, and put his arms around the donation bucket I was holding. He was quite intent that he should be allowed it. He didn't say anything, or pull on it, but he stood there for about half a minute just holding it with me telling him it was for the animals, before he let it go.
So glad he didn't tug on it or start crying or something, I wouldn't have known what to do! I'm very glad we didn't come across anyone who wanted to argue with us about stuff..I really wasn't feeling up for that today. But the time went pretty quickly and we didn't have any problems, so it was all good :-)
