The humanity of humans, yes.

KFLAHBJAKVHOIGDJTLKANBGHOIAUKNLFMFKNBGIOAGKLNFHKEYSMASH AND SO FORTH!

I want this. All of this. I want it in the mysterious deterioration of Ric's never-say-die ring (must've been made by one of the Goonies...) I want it in the deaths of all the parents (ok not really but...) I want it in this sneaky someone is killing council members and OMG GUYS WE ARE BEING MADE TO THINK MAYBE IT COULD SOMEHOW POSSIBLY PERCHANCE A LITTLE BIT be a human. Killing humans.

god, it's just... /gargling and death

The humanity of humans, and the monstrosity of them, too. (And, likewise, the monstrosity of monsters, and their humanity shining through maybe once in a while but tarnished and covered in blood, too)

THIS SHOW IS ABOUT FAMILY. ESTHER KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS, APPARENTLY.

Oh, oh, also: CAN I JUST JIZZ ALL OVER THE FACT THAT MIKAEL GOT IT ALL WRONG. All of it. So. So. Wrong.

To see him die in the vengeful fire of his own making, after centuries of hunting his own kin for what he thought was the noblest of reasons, only to find out that the one person he did it for (read: the one person that could have kept his humanity intact and saved that whole original family from persecution, regret, denial and death) had the one thing that so very few people on this show have : the capacity to forgive.

/MISTS

I just. I can't. Klaus doesn't even repent. He doesn't tell her he's sorry (with his words anyway, his FACE says everything: that he doesn't want to die, that he is sorry for everything he's done up til this point, that he's just been trying to undo all the wrongs he's done already but is still a little boy who doesn't know how to fix what he's broken) and she is just... She forgives him.

Because that's what you do.

GOD! I love this show <3

(Seriously, they have to hire Terry O'Quinn for the expositions.)

/SHINING EYES

Oh could they? Bring him in as some outsourced council member. The Giles of Mystic Falls. /touches face
It would be so beautiful.

But seriously: what was that fucking clunk? It made NO sense really. And like, like, I CAN'T EVEN. It was stupid in terms of the why of it all, but the execution and Bonnie being badass and taking ownership of her past and her present and moming her mom was more than enough to make up for it.

Matt talking about how "it's this town" and how it's the problem. Heart. in. eyes. MATT GETS IT ABOUT THIS TOWN BEING A POOL OF DEPRAVITY AND LOSS.

That town is a horrible, swirling nexus of entropy. FROM BENEATH YOU IT DEVOURS. Etc. (the first is everywhere)

They all love each other and it will never be okay.

You are such a masochist. I can't ship them like you do, but I love them all the same.

...Is it next thursday yet?

/frames this on a wall. A million times yes to all those things. THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN YEARNING FOR. If the killer of this who-done-it isn't human, I will be seriously disappointed because of such a wasted chance to explore all those things fully. Being human does not equal being innocent, and humanity does not equal innocence either. Sometimes humanity can be worse than anything with fangs, ok. (Because these monsters were human before they had fangs? oh, oh, oh my point.)

(read: the one person that could have kept his humanity intact and saved that whole original family from persecution, regret, denial and death) had the one thing that so very few people on this show have : the capacity to forgive.

KEEP TALKING FOREVER. Yes. Yes. Forgiveness is what every character on this show needs. To forgive themselves, to earn forgiveness, to forsake it, to give it, to not be able to. What Esther gave Klaus was a little bit of grace because yes, forgiveness is that. And that is the most apt description of Klaus and what the hell he's been doing with his immortality too.

Oh could they? Bring him in as some outsourced council member. The Giles of Mystic Falls. /touches face

Oh my god. :3 the most beautiful. I'm serious tough, can they do that? PLEASE? This town could use a Giles. A wise old mystic, if you will. So true, true, true about Bonnie moming her mom. Always so fierce.

That town is a horrible, swirling nexus of entropy. FROM BENEATH YOU IT DEVOURS. Etc. (the first is everywhere)

Everywhere.

You are such a masochist. I can't ship them like you do, but I love them all the same.

This is true. I am. I blame Joss Whedon.

...no. :(

is...that...a my little pony???

(Because these monsters were human before they had fangs? oh, oh, oh my point.)

UGLY UGLY TEARS BECAuSE YOU UNDERSTAND ME. And, I mean, isn't Bill Forbes a really nice introduction to this? He behaved monstrously by holding his own daughter captive, torturing her because he didn't understand her. I think ultimately, he earned his humanity back from that horrible act by giving Caroline that closure, by seeing for himself that it's not what you are, but who you are that makes you a monster. From there, it was his choice to make to die a human death, or live as long as he could as a vampire. I love that his choice wasn't about Caroline, it wasn't about rejecting what she is, but accepting who she is completely, and asking her to accept who he is and let him go.

I want this whodunnit to be human so bad I can taste it. Part of me worries that it'll be something stupid like, Klaus compelling Tyler or whatever, but that is so dumb and ultimately pointless because why does Klaus have to worry about the council, a) they can't kill him and b) they're kind of on his side sort of. Still, it being all council members makes me wary. And, that it's Elena's prints on the weapons... (would Katherine and Elena have the same fingerprints? That was my first thought when Liz came by for show and tell)

ANYWAY. Should be human. /calls Capt. Picard to MAKE IT SO

What Esther gave Klaus was a little bit of grace because yes, forgiveness is that.

AUGH. OMG. Look at all my tears collecting in this ocean for you.

Confession: Grace is my favourite word. And you are so right, that's what she gave him. I think, what she gave all her children. I mean, the looks on the faces of the other four. It's like, the reason for their feud, at least, the inciting incident is gone if she forgives Klaus. And you look at them, maybe i'm just inferring here, but beneath their shock and awe and confusion, there is almost relief. Because all that hate must be a burden, so much baggage. What a weight lifted, because mother said so.

Also, isn't so magical, that while forgiveness is what everyone, everyone needs, it's Klaus. Of ALL people. That's actually forgiven? I mean, even if Damon or Stefan were fully forgiven, if they had someone show up and just absolve them, (someone who could, not just a palceholder like elena, who doesn't really understand all they need to be forgiven for, all they feel they need to be forgiven for) they wouldn't know what to do with it. Seriously. Can you imagine Stefan able to forgive himself? To accept someone else's forgiveness?

/rolls in lols

I blame Joss Whedon.

/Slides Kripke in there, too...

I'mm just hang out in this commenthread til next week, k?

ALL DAY, EVERY DAY

I love that his choice wasn't about Caroline, it wasn't about rejecting what she is, but accepting who she is completely, and asking her to accept who he is and let him go.

Yes :') he's still a horrible, shitty father but. HE SERVED SOME SMALL PURPOSE.

And, that it's Elena's prints on the weapons... (would Katherine and Elena have the same fingerprints?

Maybe? Probably not. Even if they started out with genetically identical prints, they have both lived through different circumstances (Kathy when she was alive anyhow) which probably resulted in different scarring, tissue damage, etc.

maybe i'm just inferring here, but beneath their shock and awe and confusion, there is almost relief. Because all that hate must be a burden, so much baggage. What a weight lifted, because mother said so.

YOU ARE NOT INFERRING. Or maybe I just want this just as badly, as I hope they do. To be absolved of all their hatred and burdens and vengeance. :') THEY STARTED OUT AS A FAMILY.

isn't so magical, that while forgiveness is what everyone, everyone needs, it's Klaus. Of ALL people.

RIGHT? BEAUTIFUL. THIS SHOW, FML. Granting forgiveness to the character who most needs it, not most "deserves" it in the depraved moral context of the show. Much like when Elena forgave Damon: he didn't "deserve" it, but he needed it most. That was the point.

someone who could, not just a palceholder like elena

Like their mommy? GOD I WANT A SEASON OF MOMMIES. (I guess this is the parental season though. GIMME THIS SHOW.) Salvatore mama in particular. But I suppose that might undermine Damon and Stefan's journey of figuring their shit out and giving into their everlasting love themselves. STILL, FLASHBACKS PLEASE.

they wouldn't know what to do with it

AHAHAHA BOYS. no, they wouldn't. :|

/sits here too
