My good friend and instructor, Fabio, found a job in Jerusalem and is moving there with his family. Great news for him, but bad news for me (and his other students).

This is from yesterday:

"Lo" means "no" in Hebrew, in case you're wondering what I'm yelping there every time I'm in trouble, it's "noooo!" :-) Oh, and: "shit" means "shit" :-)

So, Fabio playing with me for the last time. Okay, surely not the last time ever (I'll definitely come visit him in Jerusalem), but the last regular class, definitely :-(

I don't think I'll find another instructor for the few months I have left here. Back to rolling with Danny on the grass to the instructional videos of Rener and Ryron Gracie...

I had a flu for the last few days, and I'm still weak (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it). So my "strategy" here is minimal: 1) Avoid his submissions 2) Get the half guard 3) Keep the half guard. Mostly, as you can see, problems arose in stage 1 :-) Check out an interesting submission at 9:30! I managed to get out of all Fabio's omoplata attempts so far; this one, he finished very unusually. I've never seen this submission before, muito cool! It felt like an omoplata (shoulder lock), but he didn't need to put me on the floor, he somehow extended my body with his leg to apply pressure. Very interesting. I'll try to recreate it with Danny...
