Hitsugaya tugged at the cuffs of the old Yukata he was wearing. The old thing had been found somewhere inside a corner of his wardrobe, and although he knew it had been there all along, he really never thought he would be wearing it.

Well, he never thought he would have to go to such an event, either.

He brushed his fingers over his jaw, which was slightly sore. He had been with Matsumoto in a mission, and was injured again, albeit this was really nothing comparing to that time on the mountains. I've been losing focus too easily, lately. Maybe I should practice more, he thought with a frown as he reached the entrance.

Matsumoto touched her hair gingerly, giving the small orchids that surrounded her updo one last check before they arrived at the festival. Her yukata suited her perfectly, brightly colored, and the flower-motif obi was just the right finishing touch. She looked every inch the part of Hitsugaya's chaperone (which she was, thankyouverymuch) as she walked along beside him. With a quick glance at her taichou, she thought to herself that perhaps today, after all that work, would be a good day to behave herself...

She rolled her own sore wrist, silently cursing that a gigai didn't mask the wounds completely. "You know, taichou," she said quietly, "they ought to make these things so we don't hurt when we're in them. Think of the tricks we could do!" Matsumoto smiled brightly down at Hitsugaya and flicked a little leaf off of his shoulder. It felt nice to be back at his side for the day.

"Hn?" Hitsugaya looked at his Vice-captain by the corner of his eye. "That, and the legislation for the power limit should be revised. It's clear that the Hollows are getting stronger," he furrowed his brow as he stared at the ground ahead of him. "Maybe I should write a suggestion in that report..." He was already mentally writing the whole report, when he finally looked ahead.

"Hn. There they are."

"Taichou," Matsu said wryly, reaching out and tugging at a small strand of his hair before moving ahead of him to go greet Rukia and the others. "You think too much."

"Kuchiki! Kuchiki-taichou~! RENJI~!"

"Ch," Hitsugaya felt his jaw clench as he watched her skipping joyfully ahead. He crossed his arms over his chest, and followed.
