Rukia walked up to the entrance, all dressed in her yukata, tugging on Renji's arm.

"Come on! We're going to be late, Renji!"

Renji was glad that he was fairly used to the geta sandals he was wearing, though the yukata was a little long and trying to trip him up. Sure, he was tall, but did the tailor really have to overcompensate THAT much?

"I bet we're the first ones there, anyway."

"You don't know that!" Rukia said, not relenting on his arm. She looked around and frowned. "Do you see anyone yet?"

Renji flicked his braid back over his shoulder and looked around, trying to find anyone else that was supposed to be there today. He shook his head and sighed. "No, I don't see anyone. I told you we'd be first here."

"Wait!" she said, voice becoming excited as she saw someone headed towards them. "I think it's Nii-sama!"

She waved as she saw her brother, motioning him to come towards her and Renji.

Byakuya picked out Rukia instantly, jumping up and down and waving her hand in the air. Taking a deep breath, he walked towards them.

He cleared his throat as he stopped in front of them, smiling slightly at Rukia, but not making eye contact with Renji.

"Rukia." Byakuya lifted his head. "Renji."

Renji nodded his head in greeting, his eyes not roaming at all above Byakuya's neckline. He wasn't going to be looking up above that collar for a while.

Nice yukata, though.

He scratched the back of his neck and glanced around slightly. "Who else are we waiting for again?"

Rukia stared at them both for a second, wondering if she was just imagining the awkwardness. Then she shrugged and listed those who were coming, "Hitsugaya taichou, Matsumoto-san, Mello, Bob-san, and Ichigo whenever he decides to show up."

Swallowing, Byakuya moved to stand on Rukia's other side while she listed off the others who they were expecting.

"Aa. I believe that is Hitsugaya and Matsumoto."

Suddenly Rukia stopped at stared at Byakuya. She looked confused for a moment and then let out a squeal.

"WHAT A CUTE BUNNY!" she said, eyes wide.

"Bunny?"

Renji finally blinked and lifted his gaze, only to spot the bunny on Byakuya's shoulder. His lips twitched a few times, but he coughed before he could start laughing.

Honestly. His taichou with a bunny on his shoulder.

Byakuya looked over his shoulder.

"Aa. Yes. I think your...fish friend told me to watch it for him," Byakuya replied. "Perhaps you would be better suited to watch over it. I know you have a liking for bunnies."

His looked over when he heard Renji cough. "Is something the matter, Renji?"

Renji quickly shook his head, turning his gaze away to the side.

"Absolutely nothing."

Really.

After Renji turned his head, Byakuya could see that his fukutaichou had put his hair up into a braid.

His mouth twitched.

Rukia stopped, hands halfway up to take the bunny from her brother.

"Er, Trout-san gave the bunny to you?" she asked, wide eyed. She managed a slight cough before withdrawing her hands. It must be a cuddle bunny. "W-well, Nii-sama, I wouldn't want to take away the gift that Trout-san so lovingly gave you."

Byakuya raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure?" He asked. "You and I both know that I am the most unsuitable person present to take care of a pet. Feel free to take it, I won't mind."
