Sawatdeeka
Well, I ventured out all by myself this morning, to the local morning market a few doors down, here in an area where they likely don't see many farang (foreigners), and made a purchase of a length of very pretty batik. Not an easy transaction -- lots of pantomime and crude sign language, but my vendor and I somehow muddled through. Pretty humbling really. Of course you're supposed to bargain, but I'm extremelyterrible at that and don't do it right. At any rate, we've all had lots of "we're not in Kansas anymore moments' throughout our trip (as in my experience with the Thai restroom at the beach yesterday-- ugh, don't ask).
