1) I live in a century old, fixer-upper house with my family which we bought about 5 years ago, that needs lots of work/TLC, and is basically propped up by termites holding hands (but we love it anyway)....
2) I've been vegetarian for nearly half my life by now (Hub and kids are too)....
3) My first ever concert was to see The Grateful Dead at the tender age of 14 or so. This was before MTV and The Deads's late 80's resurgence (a la 'A Touch of Grey', et al) -- and I wasn't familiar with their music, knew nothing about their cult following, and was generally clueless about what was going on in terms of the hoards of uber dated-looking, shiny happy dancing hippy folk (not that it wasn't a fun time)....
4) Regarding housework, I don't mind sweeping, I don't mind washing dishes, I don't mind washing clothes, or even hanging them on the line. But for whatever reason I hate, hate, HATE folding clothes and putting them away (as does everyone else in the family apparently)...
5) Consequently, there are typically several laundry baskets stuffed full of clean laundry sitting around here waiting to bang our shins at any given time ....
6) I would probably kill or die for my kids (if I had to)...
7) That's not to say that we don't sometimes have our 'moments', AHEM.....
8) I once worked in a pinball machine factory (the best of the best, Williams Bally Midway in CHGO), running blue prints ....
9) Ever since, while I don't go out of my way to play pinball? If there happen to be a WBM machines around, I do find them to be pretty darn irresistible...
10) In my former life I was an interior designer/space planner....
11) I once re-designed the labor/delivery floor for a large Chicago hospital, to make the rooms more 'homey', etc. This was before I had children myself of course -- Ha! CLUELESS!!!
12) Mind you, by the time I had my second baby I opted for home birth...
13) I was engaged to my husband within three months of dating, and hitched by 4 months....
14) That was almost exactly 14 years ago....
15) Speaking of my husband, poor fella has no sense of smell due to a bad accident he was in, when he was struck by a car as a pedestrian on a Chicago city street, sustaining concussion and skull fractures, just days after our 1 year wedding anniversary....
16) I thank our lucky stars his injuries weren't more severe (for they *could* have The Ultimate in severity), least of all because of the small fact that I was less than a week or so unexpectedly preggers with my first at the time, and had no inkling (surprise! surprise!)....
17) I had an awesome treehouse growing up that I practically lived in -- spending hours lying around reading, sketching, and thinking DEEP THOUGHTS up there, alone. I still love spending time alone.
18) I rarely find myself alone these days however....
19) Sometimes I think I have some weird sort of learning disability specific to understanding computers and digital electronics/applications and how to effectively use them, because trying to figure it all out feels like a never-ending struggle for me...
20) Oh, well, I say to the above. "Oh, well...." (which just happens to be probably my most favorite of all life's phrases, and one I put into near constant use) ...
