This aerial shot from 37,000ft of Daniel's Harbour in Newfoundland has gained a rather unexpected use. As aerial shots go it's not much to look at, but then there are probably very few aerial photos of this remote place in circulation - I remember making a rough note of where my plane was from the in-flight moving map, then later making a more accurate search of Google Earth to find out the location of the photo. A month ago a guy trawled Flickr for just such a shot and contacted me, asking if he could use it in a video he was making in memory of his late wife, who was born in Daniel's Harbour. No problem, said I, and thanks for asking. He's used the photo by superimposing an image of his wife over the sea, hovering like an angel over the town - all of which leaves me a bit weirded out, but I'm pleased it's been put to use in a good if rather unusual way.
