Friday short fiction #1: three genre stories

Frederic Giet  A Radiant Future  2010
Three good (and brief) genre short stories I've read this week:

Will Arthur, 'Palindrome'  (DAILY SCIENCE FICTION, 28 DECEMBER 2010)
Okay, it's a device, and it hangs on the double meaning of a single word. But this must have been great fun to compose.

Abbey Mei Otis, 'Sweetheart'  (TOR.COM, 8 DECEMBER 2010)
The comment thread to this is interesting: while some seem to be comparing it with Kij Johnson's 'Ponies' (a good story that actually bears little comparison), others just don't get the story itself, or why you have to take a step back from it to understand its message.

Lon Prater, 'You Do Not Know What Slipstream Is'  (LONE STAR STORIES 18, 1 DECEMBER 2006)
Oh wow. Simply, one of the neatest metafictions I've read for a long while.
