Attack of the Giant Leeches, 1959, USA   DIRECTED BY BERNARD L. KOWALSKI
Leeches suck blood, so giant leeches suck lots of blood, right? Roger Corman was probably the inevitable producer for such an idea, set in Florida where radiation from nearby Cape Canaveral has poisoned the local Everglades resulting in the inevitable man-eating mutations, smarter than your average leeches and storing their human food in an underwater cave. The film's main draw for the drive-in teens was a 23-year old Yvette Vickers, who did a Playboy centrefold the same year and had also previously appeared in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Bad acting + dumb plot + ridiculous rubber-suit monsters should = the perfect hour-long B-movie, although this still isn't quite silly enough to be up there with the worst/best of them.
