In-Character Information
Name (and age/-relevance if applicable): Petey Piranha, Young Adult
Species: Piranha Plant
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Canon Point: From Partners in Time to New Super Mario Bros.
Occupation or status upon arrival: Park hobo
Personality:
Petey is a somewhat-gullible, beastly plant, with a gentle side to him as well. He never actually wants to harm any innocent people, he only wants to satisfy his ever-present hunger. Deep inside, Petey is just a lonely soul, who happens to look like a beastly Piranha Plant. Often people judge him by his appearance, or by the fact that he can come off as kind of ferocious when he first meets people. It is partially due to his large, sharp-toothed grin he gives anyone he first meets, or by that fact that he has just consumed their close friend, or neighbor. Petey can be friendly and kind to people, he is just socially awkward, so it might take a while for him to warm up to you. Despite viewing most individuals as a possible tasty snack, Petey also would like to befriend people, but can sometimes not withstand the temptation of eating them.
Petey was enlisted by Bowser for help on several occasions, and Petey, being offered food, accepted to help him. Petey, on his own, has no evil ambitions, or good ambitions. His driving force in life is hunger, and a constant search for a nice place to settle in. He has a simple mind in day to day thoughts, and mostly operates in order of how hungry he is, and whether he is sleepy or not. Petey sees himself as what he is: A large, hungry Piranha Plant. Albeit, he thinks himself a completely nice guy, and thinks that he can't be blamed for eating your friend, after all, he was hungry, and your friend happened to be nice and chubby. He doesn't care too much when he destroys buildings, especially if the building happens to be in his way.
If Petey doesn't get along with or agree with someone, chances are you're going to get chomped, or covered in mud. Petey is quick to judge if he likes a person or not, and his decision can be strongly influenced by food. He's sort of odd about first meeting people, most often taking a strong sniff of someone when they first meet. This means Petey is deciding whether you would taste good or not, what species you are, what gender you are, and sometime what perfume or cologne you are wearing. If Petey likes a person, he'll generally stick near them, or visit them often. He won't eat them, and will try really hard not to eat them. However, friends are often seen as someone to mooch off of, so he'll pester them for food, a place to stay, or other "small favors" if Petey feels he deserves them.
Backstory:
Many years back, in a dense, humid jungle, a single Piranha Plant grew steadily in a small clearing. Over a short period of time, it had grown nearly three times its previous size. Red and green-spotted vines grew from the ground around the Piranha Plant, and the Piranha Plant itself increased in size at an alarming rate. When the Piranha Plant was about 10 feet tall, it unfurled its leaves and moved its head back and forth, as if observing its surroundings. Yellow and orange petals bloomed around its head a couple of days later, and the Piranha Plant, which had decided its name was Petey, began to feel hungry. But alas, the snaking, thorny vines which surrounded and protected the young Piranha Plant, also kept prey from getting to Petey. He decided that he was going to do something about this. The ground around Petey crumbled, and shifted as Petey began to pull himself from it. One final pull later, and Petey had uprooted himself, and was standing on two small, nubby, green legs. He grinned a wide smile with his large, sharp teeth, and began to trudge his way through the jungle. Before long, Petey encountered his first Spear Guy. Several delicious encounter later, Petey came to the edge of the island. He was curious as to what was out over the ocean, but, unsure if he was ready to leave the island yet, he turned back. Petey spent the next eight years of his life on this island, growing up and learning important life skills, like: it is a bad idea to eat Spear Guys spear and all.
He was eight-and-a-half-years-old when he first flew across the ocean to a new land. Not knowing where he was headed, Petey landed at the first ground he found. This place happened to be the Gritzy Desert. Unfortunately for Petey, he had no idea that water in the Gritzy Desert was hard to find, so after a couple of hours of wandering in circles, Petey collapsed. The Shroobs had decided that the Koopaseum was a nice, secluded place to set up their base of operations. While they built their lair in the basement of the Koopaseum, the Shroobs sent out some scouts to survey the area. The Shroob scouts came upon Petey, collapsed in the desert, baking in the sun, and, by order of the Shroob Princess, brought him back to the Koopaseum. The Shroob Princess, deciding that this "beast" may come in handy at some point, had Petey watered and fed, and kept in a pit. Petey had few complaints, he even enjoyed the free food and water. One day, Petey heard a great commotion above. Eager to see what was going on, he jumped up and down. Slowly, a woman in a pink dress was lowered over the pit. Willing to eat anything, Petey jumped up and gulped Princess Peach down. A couple of hours later, Petey was offered a female Koopa, dangling over his mouth. A Shroob cut the rope, and she fell into Petey's maw, and Petey quickly devoured her. Then a Shroob told Petey to spit out Princess Peach. Deciding that Kylie Koopa had been a sufficient exchange for the princess, Petey spit out Peach. Done with his snack, Petey burrowed underground to take a nap. Deep in sleep, Petey was awakened by the sound of someone moving above where he was. Furious that his sleep was interrupted, Petey burst out of the ground and roared. Jumping up, Petey ate the first thing he saw: the block above his head. As he chewed it, he realized it was just a bland cube, and spit it out forcefully. It hit the wall and rebounded until it made a crack in the wall behind him. Turning back, Petey noticed two tasty plumbers and their baby counterparts that stood before him. Deciding they would make a tasty snack, he jumped forward and landed where they would have been, had they not run and hid behind some rocks. Petey turned around and jumped back. Baby Luigi ran, and Petey gave chase, jumping and landing feet from him. Petey grinned and jumped up and down a couple more times before baby Luigi fell down and cried. Suddenly, Mario threw his baby self at the back of Petey's head to distract him, and Luigi ran over and rescued baby Luigi. Infuriated by their antics, Petey engaged them in battle. After a long, furious battle, Petey was defeated by the Mario brothers, and spit out Kylie Koopa and a Cobalt Star Shard and flew away.
Deciding he was tired of the Gritzy Desert and the Shroobs, Petey once again took flight in search of, perhaps, a more lush land. That was when Petey came upon the Isle of Delfino. Petey first landed in the jungles of Delfino, where he hung out for a while before he ran out of prey. Wandering out of the jungle after a long period of time, Petey came into Bianco Hills, where the residents were curious of him. If they had wondered if Petey was kind and gentle, all thoughts were perished when he promptly devoured someone. The residents screamed in terror and some began yelling and throwing things at Petey. Somehow, by some horrible mistake, one of the residents threw a Shine Sprite at Petey. Frustrated, Petey took flight and landed on top of the Big Windmill. Out of defensive instinct, Petey created large, red and green-spotted, thorny vines to spiral around the windmill. Still upset, Petey spit mud-like goop everywhere he could reach. Before long, Petey noticed that someone was coming up the windmill. That scent.. He recognized it from that time in the Gritzy Desert! Petey roared at Mario. Then he heard a cracking noise. The ceiling of the Big Windmill collapsed, and Petey and Mario fell to the bottom of the inside of the windmill. Petey landed flat on his back and lay stunned for a while. His senses coming back to him, Petey flapped his arms and righted himself. He got ready to spit goop at Mario when Mario sprayed a strong jet of water into Petey's open mouth. Petey fell over backwards as he was flooded with water, and his weak spot, his navel, was exposed. Struggling to get up, but too bloated with water, Petey made a gurgling noise as Mario ground-pounded his navel. After a couple repeats of this, Petey flew away in terror. The Shine Sprite was left behind, and Mario took it. Fighting was a tiring business, and Petey just wanted to forget the awful torture he had just received, so he found a pleasant hill and curled up to sleep. But yet again, Mario showed up to beat up Petey. Petey woke with a start as something hit him in the side of the head. Scenting Mario again, Petey took flight in terror. Mario shot him with water again, and, surprised, Petey fell from the sky and landed on the ground, where Mario proceeded the same routine as before. Absolutely terrified, Petey flew away from Delfino, as far as he could, hoping to never see Mario again.
Petey came to a small island, that looked as if it had a nice jungle he could stay in. It was Yoshi Island, and Petey landed in the Yoshi Island Jungle. By pure coincidence, he had landed not far from the castle which Naval resided in. Walking through the jungle, Petey met some other Piranha Plants, who told him there was a castle up ahead where a lot of other Piranha Plants stayed. When Petey arrived at the castle, the other Piranha Plants there insisted on him meeting their leader. That was when Petey first met Naval Piranha. They talked with each other, and discovered their common dislike of Mario and their common weak spot. Petey decided he liked Naval, and stayed at the castle for a while. Before long though, Petey decided he would like to explore the lands again, so he bid Naval goodbye, and flew off of Yoshi Island.
Petey came upon yet another small island, this one called Vibe Island. When he landed, a large Koopa, which Petey would later learn was called Bowser, approached him. Assessing him and deciding that Petey was large and powerful, he told Petey that if he would guard this area that he would pay him. Petey, only wanting food, accepted meat as pay and guarded the area. A couple of hours later, Petey noticed a Toad in a bubble floating along. Obviously, he would have to stop this intruder. So Petey ate him. Then Petey heard a feminine shriek. It was the very same princess he had eaten back in the Gritzy Desert! Petey roared at Peach and spat a Nipper out at her. Then, as Petey opened his mouth to roar again, a strong jet of water filled his mouth again. Petey had a horrible feeling of déjà vu, as he fell over backwards with his weak spot revealed. Another painful defeat ensued, and Petey flew off, spitting out the Toad as he went.
Petey arrived, for his first time, in the Mushroom Kingdom. For a while, Petey just hid in the forests, tired of being beat up all the time. But, as fate would have it, Bowser found Petey again. Angry at Petey's failure, Bowser had Petey locked in an icy castle to guard it. Petey sulked most of the time, but after a while he fell asleep. Petey heard the sound of someone running across the ice and woke up. At first, Petey panicked at the familiar scent, but then he realized it was the other person that was with Mario that one time long ago. Grumpy at having being awoken, Petey took flight over Luigi. Petey suddenly tried to ground-pound Luigi, but Luigi ran out of the way and Petey hit the ice and slipped. Lying dazed on his back, Petey grunted as Luigi ground pounded his head. Yet again, Petey was beat up, and he, no longer going to take this, broke a hole in the wall and flew off.
What brings this person to Diamond City?:
After suffering numerous defeats at the hand of Mario and co., Petey decided to go somewhere where they would never find them. Unfortunately, Petey came upon Diamond City, where Luigi and F.L.U.D.D. were. Petey hopes to find a nice place to stay and some good meals while in Diamond City.
Special Abilities:
Petey has the uncanny ability to spit out Nippers, and somehow make Piranha Plants sprout from the ground to help him. He can burrow into the ground, and can also grow red and green-spotted, thorny vines. He can fly, and create whirlwinds with a sweep of his arm. He can also spit mud-like goop.
Misc. Notes:
Petey isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to figuring things out, and is easily persuaded by food. He likes to stand out in the sunlight with his mouth wide open, sometimes with drool dribbling out of his mouth. Often he does the same in the rain, his mouth overflowing with water until he feels like he is going to drown. He loves to roar loudly to prove a point, and is also capable of high-pitched screeching noises. He "sees" by scent, and loves to sniff things. He loves nature, is very gentle around flowers, and he won't eat vegetables, fruits, or any other plants, for obvious reasons. He has a strong dislike of Mario, due to the constant torture he has suffered by his hand. He has played soccer, golf, baseball, and kart racing, but isn't very good at any of them. His head is very large and heavy, and since his legs are so short as well, he can't run very fast. He has a fear of fire. Like other Piranha Plants, Petey, if awakened from sleep, will fly into a rage, lashing out at anything nearby. He is 14 ft. tall

First-Person Sample: Thought Train:
Wow... This place is really... Huge... So many smells, so many delicious scents! But then.. there's the hard pavement... I don't really like that... Oh well, I can rip that up with some roots later if I need to. I wonder what sort of tasty people live here? Maybe there will be some Shy Guys! Man I love Shy Guys... What's that.. I smell..? A park! Trees! Grass! I think I'll just live here for now then..
...
Why is that guy looking at me funny? Oh well, I'll just tell him that I'll be staying here.. HOPE YOU DON'T MIND I'M LIVING IN THIS PARK, I MIGHT'VE DESTROYED THE FOUNTAIN, BUT THAT'S OK.
Third-Person Sample:
Petey was walking down an alley when he heard the crunch of something under his foot. Petey stepped back and picked up the strange thing. It felt about as big as a Shy Guys' mask, and was smooth and disc-shaped. He felt three long points on the top of the item, and five shorter points along the bottom of the thing. Petey sniffed it. It smelled sort of familiar.. Like the ocean, and the beach.. Like.. Delfino.. Petey shook the thing. It made a weak shining sort of noise, and for the life of Petey, he couldn't remember why it was so familiar.. "Whatever.." Petey chucked it over his shoulder and continued on his way, not noticing the sound of breaking glass and screeching tires behind him in the streets.
Hey! You just finished the app! Any last words?
