on absence and fondness

i don't know if it's because i grew up here and was numbed to it at the time. possibly now that their final child is off and about in the world, they have more time to spend on their castle. my parents house though, is almost obnoxiously pristine. to walk in the backyard is very much like walking into a book of children's poetry. and while my bed was still here it felt like i was getting "home" in a concentrated dose. it's still very nice though. very nice indeed.
