I must gush.
Social science is the best class ever this year. Our teacher is just so insanely good. Passionate, knows what she's doing...it's just so wonderful.
She is so engaging, so commanding...but has a nice humor, and can smile, which is also very good. And her grading system is THE BEST ever. Ever.
What you do is that there are certain objectives each...month? Not sure. But she has us then work on that objective, and it could be just one assignment, or 5 assignments, a test, and a project. All depends on how complicated the objective is.
Then, homework is first graded if it is ontime, and is given a "met the objective" or "did not meet the objective". Then, once we finished a unit, or whatever you wanna call it, she looks over each piece of homework for each objective, and then gives us a quality grade based the overall work for that objective. You then recieve a U(nsatisfactory), M(et expectations), or E(xceeds expectations).
She explained she wants to focus on what we need to learn, not what we don't know. She is teaching, and doing her job, based on the reason that attending school was first made a law; for us to become better citizens, and to make better choices when being a citizen of our country.
Of course, the second semester is spend on post-colonial countries, and the affect that colonization had on these places, mostly in Africa and Asia.
I feel like I could do anthropology, social sciences, human studies for the rest of my life. I enjoy it mainly because it is DEBATEABLE, and it sticks true to Rai's favorite saying: Truth is nothing. Perception is everything.
Rai, you'll be proud. I actually said that to some kid, and we were having a wonderful debate, and you can p2p me if you really wanna know what it was all about. *g*
