Worst/best weekend I've had for a while...

So like a month ago, McConnell asked me to do sound for the semi-finals at SS Idol. I thought, no problem, a couple hours during the day, then I can go home, have a party, no problem. No. Turns out it took up TEN hours of my Saturday. I get there at 8:30 in the MORNING, and I didn't get out of there until 6:30. Thanks, South Shore Idol, I HATE you. There were supposed to be 4 two hour sessions, except most of the sessions only ended up being like 45 minutes, and then we had a LOONNNNG, PAINFUL break in between them, because they wouldn't start any sooner. Then they went and took like 45 minutes after it was finally all over to do the final round of judging. I started packing up my shit as soon as he thanked everyone for coming out. I was the first one there, and the last one out, and all they did was buy me lunch.. I don't even get paid until next weekend. Plus this one judge in an ugly green sweater wouldn't stop glaring at me. "IT SOUNDS MUDDY, FIX IT!!!" well you have TWO fucking people using the SAME fucking microphone with two VERY different voices!! Of course ONE of them isn't going to sound as good as the other! I could make them both sound okay, but I figure they would have wanted me to make the SINGER sound good rather than the fucking emcee. You think they'd appreciate me trying to EQ 40 different singers in a row to make them all sound good. About the only joy I got was playing Jack Johnson as the mood music between sessions. All this for a measly $100, and I STILL have to get to school at 6AM next Saturday in order to get paid. Fucking Knowledge festival, I hate you. You'd think I've had enough of this, right? Well, Jonathon from CKBW came up to me after and asked me if I'd help out Burt next weekend at the finals (Burt Townsend is doing sound) and I said yes... CKBW better give me that damn bursary that I applied for.

Anyway, after that, I went and had probably the most fun I've had in a little while... Dave and Justin and Gwyn and Daniel and Shannon came over and we watched The Blues Brothers, aka, the second best movie of all time. But not before we had a small fire... I figured it's a nice night out, we might as well burn something, so I found an old guitar that I hated since the second I laid eyes on it (I think I played it like twice) and I took the tuners off (they were still good) and then we lighted it on fire and watched it burn... I think Gwyn has pictures of as playing the burning guitar (except there were no strings on it, so we weren't really playing it), and then holding it up in the air an swinging it around... good times, good times. Then I thought since it was my first guitar I should save it and sell it on eBay when I'm famous. All that is left is the neck, and it is badly burned and broken in half... but it's still good. So then after all that, we watched Spinal Tap (aka, THE best movie of all time) and Pulp Fiction, which everyone fell asleep through. I personally saw the first two scenes, I fell asleep before they even got in the apartment. So there were five of us sitting on the couch, and we managed to sleep most of the night like that. I think people slowly started to wake up and move around a bit so it was more comfortable, but I stayed there until the morning, when I slept on the floor for a while, but I didn't want to take any ones blanket, so it was cold, and I ended up going back up on the couch after a while. This morning after Gwyn left, me and Dave and Justin and Shannon (aka Petrand, Davely, Shanevere, and {said in a really low voice} JUSTIN!! [okay, we couldn't come up with a good quest name for him, shut up]) went to Mahone Bay for a pizza.... we bought it, and we were going to go home and eat it, when someone suggested, "why don't we just eat it here?" It seemed like a good idea, so we did. Three 16" cheese pizzas and all of our money later, we realized, "oohhhh, that's why we shouldn't have eaten it here..." We were a bit short, so I owe the guy at the pizza place $3. He gave us a free pepsi (we drank two 2 litre bottles) because we bought so much pizza. He kept laughing whenever I went in to order another one.

Anyway, then went for a really long walk on the train tracks and then through the woods and around the little inlet thingy or whatever you call those little things that are the ocean, but are isolated from it because there is a bridge blocking off one end....... okay, one of those. We walked around it. Hilarity insued. Justin lost his shoes in muck, and I had to rescue him. Finding safe paths through the muck was interesting at times. Then we got to the river, and hung around there for a while. Man, that water was fucking COLD, but me and Dave managed to go through the tunnel under the road, but by the time I got across, I thought I was going to die of coldness..or...soemthing... So we came back to the house and sort of played soccer/did hand-stands on Dave's rib cage. Good times.

Now I'm really really tired, and wanting to go to bed soon. Even though it isn't even 8... Those of you who didn't come, you way should have. It was a fucking blast, seriously, I don't remember having so much fun in a while... Me and Dave jammed for a while while, it was great. Dave, you're going to have to come over for a real jam session sometime. But yeah, you guys should have come. WAYYY better than studying for bio, let me tell you. So next time I say come over to my place, drop what you're doing.

BEACH TRIP SOON!!! For serious. Let's go.
