NYE

I had a really good New Years Eve. The last couple of NYE's have included most of a group of friends, Last year we went to Greenwich, the year before we went to Barcelona. This year 4 of us decided to stay local and head out in Belfast.

We had lots of debates as where to go. 2 of them wanted to go to a local hotel, for a more formal night. I wanted to go out to the city, a good restaurant and then to The Empire, Belfast. Eventually I won out, and we chose an Italian restaurant, Speranza.

Such a good restaurant, its highly recommended. I had a great Calzone pizza, and a friend had a huge stake, I feel hungry again...

The Empire is a pub cum music hall, which has become famous in N. Ireland for it's comedy evenings where several great comedians have started, usually, very satirical. Its also the Place I used to head out to quite often on a Saturday night when I was younger. We used to see a local cover band called Strictly no Ballroom, that was about 11 - 12 years ago now. We really liked them then and I was surprised and glad to see there still going, and appearing on there regular date of NYE.

By about 11:30 we headed down to the dance floor and started to have a big of a dance with the crowds. I think we (4 blokes) were looking around for some single girls to have a quick kiss with at the stroke of midnight. All night I had admired this girl and she now happened to be near me. Our eyes caught, she gave me a smile and wink.

The amusing thing is, that the other 3 were busy trying to send txt messages, and totally missed out on a few girls looking for a kiss. So I had a couple of kisses and cuddles with Shiobain. Much to the surprise and jealousy of my friends!

Unfortunately most of the places were closing at 1am, we took a while to leave and chatted with some of the hangers on, before heading out to watch all the people try to get home. All the girls leaving the Queens University Union building seemed to have the shortest skirts ever! :D

I also gave Mel a call wishing her a happy new years, It's become a bit of a tradition to give her a call now and one or 2 of my friends have a chat with her as well.

Then I drove us home (Oh yeah I was the sober designated driver!). We ended up having another few drinks (finally beer!) before the others staggered off home.

A good night

mj, home (n.i.), new years, night out
