noise is not as bad as blur; unless ofcourse you like contemporary

These pictures are noisy. Because I still don't have a tripod, and there was so little light, I had to use a high ISO to get a fast enough shutter speed to avoid movement during the exposure, which in my opinion is worse than noise. Anyway, when I get a tripod I will go back and take the same pictures at a lower ISO, THEN we'll see who's noisy!

Also this afternoon, at the cross-country carbo-load dinner...

... the OTHER Jackson. For those of you who know him, I think you will find this shot a perfect expression of his personality. It was a dark, cloudy evening so I decided to use a new flash technique I picked up the other day. Instead of getting a professional "flash diffuser" system, I wrapped a white napkin around my pop-up flash, turned down the EV level of the flash so it would cooperate with the ambient light, and... tah-dah, I got a flash portrait which doesn't exhibit harsh shadows and an underexposed background (well, until I raised the contrast and blacked it out on purpose), and scream of a simple flash snapshot. Next time I'll try a yellow napkin.

I always have resented those who "share" my name. We had an in-depth discussion about this on the X country bus the other day, though, and attempted to draw conclusions about commonalities between Jacksons the world over. I have overcome my initial name-based hatred of him. Maybe love WILL prevail in the world.

Another Cross-Country buddy. Have pitty on Anna, she's a bit down. That's an understatement. This is the quintessence of angst. I am usualy releived to have finished the race, but we're all different.

Last night before I went to bed:

I hope to see something like this right before I pass away.

My buddy the ducksman. Of some-sortsman, that is.

The End.
