The 'fanfare' is a great song! Horns oozing with nostalgia is all a man needs to slide down to memory lane.
I've had this song in my head for a while now and last Sunday the nostalgic feeling washed over me like a waterfall (not Niagara, but Coo maybe). A few old friends were sitting on a 'terraske', having a fine old time playing a boardgame. I ( Read more... )

... I tend to euhm, not letting everyone grow apart if I can avoid it... well, at least the last 10 years.

I know some people who complain they don't see their old friends anymore, but when asked if they call/email/make appointments often it turns out they don't - so you can't really help growing apart. I think that every now and then, reviving things a bit is healthy.

With friends I haven't seen in a while (like the law girls, except Steff, or some Mechelen people, or ex colleagues, or the rat girls, or online people) I send them an email every now and then, or I get on msn. So when I see them back we're not strangers, much the opposite, in fact it always feels as if we never stopped being together every week. The irritating part of that is that some still see me as that 18 year old wildwoman, but hey, gotta do with it. She's never been that far away anyway.

I do not really 'rotate' friends in fact, every few years there are a few extra. I share them easily too (i know some people who have trouble doing that) which makes me loose some sometimes, but i'm happy if they're happy, i guess. Preferably with me, but with others is fine as well.
