Had the catalytic converter replaced. The engine in the Jetta has the downpipes, collector, and cat all together as one piece, so it was very expensive. A similar job on the Jeep is about $100. This should be the end of the Check Engine Light. Next step is a smog test. After that I should get my plates and registration is finally complete. Then I start work on getting the Jeeps to pass smog... I am for clean air but what a PITA this has been.
