how long ago do you think they learned that they could kill our rock'n'roll spirit by throwing money at it...really how long ago do you think they learned how to squash our destructive tendencys, was it the velevet roped acid revolution of the sities, where was the initial loss?

it's not a fall from grace, it's structural. how far back do you want to go? Tin Pan Alley? Music Hall (I think you call it Vaudeville). there's a saying from 15th century England: "T'is bad enough in man or woman, to steal a goose from off the common, but surely he's without excuse, who steals the common from the goose". Chuang Tzu, writing maybe 2000 years ago: "When wise men are born, great robbers arise". that our economic systems have imperatives very few are free off, should not be a surprise. yet in some areas we have to learn this over and over again. the spirit of rock and roll was never free in the first place. rock and roll did not need to be incorporated because it was never "outside" in the first place. we just thought it was, then got disappointed to learn the truth.

still . . . get a great feeling when I put Hednrix on: Voodoo Chile still sending me after all these years. the feeling and excitement is real, it's just the picture is more complex . . . .
