Something Important

Just an idea for a fic that occurred to me while re-watching the first season of Heroes. Also my first Heroes fic.

Title: Something Important
Rating: PG/K+
Summary: "Mohinder felt as if he had missed something vaguely important." Peter/Mohinder

It would be inaccurate to say that Peter Petrelli was an impulsive person. It would also be inaccurate to say that he was a selfish person. He had his moments, though. See: Subway. New York City. Time stopped.

"Wait!" Uttered at the last moment, completely on a whim.

Hiro turned back to face him. "Yes?"

"Just… Give me a second." Peter sighed quietly, and then turned and approached the frozen Mohinder cautiously, curiously. He stopped within two inches of the other man's face, staring into the chocolate eyes, lost somewhere he, Peter, couldn't even begin to comprehend.

With a quick look around, he leaned up and pressed his lips against the scientist's. They were soft, not as much distinction from kissing a woman as he thought there would be, apart from the stubble, of course. He wasn't quite sure how they tasted, not daring to flick his tongue out to see, despite his overwhelming curiosity. He was already taking a risk, and he didn't want to push it.

Eventually, when it got semi-awkward because he didn't dare bring his hands up and put them onto Mohinders shoulders, god forbid lace them in his hair, he broke the kiss, leaning his forehead against Mohinder's for a moment before stepping back. He didn't turn to look at Hiro, just bit his lip and said, quietly, on faith that he would be heard and understood, "Okay."

When time began again, Peter was talking excitedly, some nonsense about a time traveler and a mission. Despite being quite skeptic, Mohinder felt as if he had missed something vaguely important.
