One month down

It occurs to me that I've been in London for over a month now. I wish I had a list of profound things I've learned and life experience I've gained, but I don't. That's not to say I'm wasting my time (and father's money), just that I'm not in the mood to explain it to you.

Yesterday, I did not in fact go to Notting Hill OR Stonehenge. Which is probably good, cause I was just gonna do my Spinal Tap impersonation the whole time. Instead, I went to a bunch of old book stores and record stores in our neighborhood that I had not yet had the oppurtunity to visit yet. I also discovered that one of my favorite comic book artists will be visiting town later this month. Michael Avon Oeming, who draws POWERS by Brian Michael Bendis (he's like the Neptunes of the comic book world right now), is going to sign books at GOSH! I'm very happy about this. Someone tell Jim Doran.

Last night I did some exhausting online research of London nightlife, only to discover that we're basically in the heart of it here in Bloomsbury. We went to the cheapest pub in town, and it's just down the street. I had a few pints with some friends. Apparently I was speaking too loud, because some FSU kids approached us, knowing we were Americans. I say "Dude" too much. They were unattractive, and then the pub closed.

So we went to another.

Met in earnest some quite rad ladies from Duke. I mentioned how I usually pick Duke to win in my basketball brackets. Exchanged contact information. Will be seeing them again hopefully. Why do I meet Americans en masse, yet very few British people? I blame Bush. And www.presidentialprayerteam.com, which I view as insurmountable evidence that religious people are more dangerous than atheists. Not that I'm either. Anyway, I went to bed.

I'm still having trouble sleeping. Err not so much sleeping as much as waking up. I got some vitamins, and hopefully, I'll get back to a normal schedule.

I've got to write a paper on Beowulf. My topic? Negotiating Pagan and Christian Iconography in Beowulf and Its Manifestation in Teaching Bias. I've been doing this for too long. I'm ready to graduate.

Also, gotta read King Lear and Hamlet. Yeah right.

I'm listening to Pearl Jam's TEN album. Maybe later I'll walk to Matt Slagle's house on Magnolia and we'll hang out at the Hood pool. I'll get sunburned while he gawks at Dana Carlson.

Big Ben is scary.
