So, I'm in Charlotte, North Carolina for a bit, and I really don't know what there is to do around here since I've only ever been to Raleigh. I think I will go out and check this place out, seeing as I'm going to be spending some time here this summer. On Monday at 3 I'll be going in to have my first surgery of the summer and suffice to say I am a little more than nervous. I've had plenty of surgeries before, plenty of chances to be told, "hey, you can't play anymore." However, legs and feet are an intergral part of playing hockey, so when the doctor told me that he was going to have to break both of my feet to repair my ligaments and tendons, it felt like my heart skipped a beat.

Hockey is what I know, it's what I've built my entire life upon. If I lose it now, at this age, what will I do? A good friend of mine told me that they have ankle surgeries pretty much perfected, but this is a little different and despite trying to think positively I have this little nagging feeling. Maybe it's just there to keep me in check, so I don't work it too hard, too early and lose an entire season because that's the last thing I need.

Anyway, I should be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and I think I'll stay in N.C. for a couple days and see how this foot is going to heal and then head up to Philadelphia and take it easy.
