"Isabel!" Peter said, taking a long hop to the door. He opened it slightly. "Um. Just warning you. A couple things have changed since the last time you saw me."
"It's good to be back," Isabel said automatically. And then her brain, which was moving much slower then usual actually processed what she was seeing. "What the hell happened?"
"Big military organization stripped my powers but apparently didn't do a very good job of it," Peter said. "I'm pretty sure I'm not turning into a big, slobbering spider-monster or anything - yet, anyway - so that's good news!"
"I think I am. I'm just trying to figure out how to fix myself. I don't think that's happening, though," Peter said, disappointed. "So, what happened with you? You're here? How? Why?"
"Well if there's anything I can do to help," Isabel offered. "I'm a scientist-type, but I can do research if necessary."
She shrugged, "Because we found out at the last minute that it was all a scam by Tess. She was supposed to go home pregnant with Max's heir and bring us along with her. She would get to have the baby and we would all be executed immediately. So she left, we stayed and here I am."
"Oh, and the friend who's funeral I went home for? She was responsible for his death as well."
"I'm an amateur scientist-type myself. I think I know the basics about what happened, but I have no clue about any specific causes because it involves formulas and serums and stuff that I've never had a chance to study. It sucks," Peter sighed.
"And, um. In that case, I'm extremely glad you're back here. Much, much better than being executed on some planet. I'm sorry about your friend, though."
"I'll deal. I have to," Peter said. "I'm just hoping this is it in terms of transformations. You don't happen to know of any mad scientist types around who could help, do you?"
"And, hey, completely understand on you not calling back. I appreciate the e-mail you sent, though. Even if you did make it moot the next day."
"Actually have you talked to Janet?" Isabel asked. "She was really involved in developing a cure for Angel over break. It seemed like she knew what she was doing." And damn, that reminded her, she needed to talk to Angel and tell him about the dreamwalk she made while he was unconscious.
"I couldn't just disappear, you know? That wouldn't be right."
Tired from the last week of hell, she leaned against the door frame and knocked.

She nodded, "I am glad to be back. And thank you for calling. It meant a lot. I'm sorry I didn't call back, there was just a lot going on."
