Hello Kiddies,
The Big Apple is frozen solid and heavy winter clothes I haven't worn in two years are getting reacquainted. Life in the HSB in the meantime has warmed up considerably.
If you were to ask me where I've been for the past three weeks, the answer would be moving. Quite literally.
Last October, I was informed that my apartment had completed renovations and was in fact ready to be rented and I made arrangements to meet my landlord, do some final maneuvering and sign my lease the first week in November, get furniture and move in on Thanksgiving weekend. Of course then we had a FUCKING HURRICANE! The mass hysteria and insanity pushed that back another month, and we finally signed in mid-December and commenced on Jan 1. They were nice enough for us to get the furniture delivered early, and let us move a few things in. We spent our first night here New Year's Eve. Since doing anything in the holiday insanity of December is nearly impossible, we made plans to get everything done on January Shutdown. After spending a day or two mercifully resting, we went on a 3 day trip to Michigan to round up the rest of
kalita82's stuff and Ginger (the cat). I like road trips as much as anybody, but driving 22 hours in 3 days was a bit much for us. Not to mention that unlike NJ, DE, MD, & VA, PA is a miserable fucking state to drive in. I had driven to Harrisburg many moons ago when I was seeing The Girl, and that was downright pleasant, but from NJ to OH was a barren wasteland devoid of rest stops. We were however, able to find a Wegmans so it wasn't all bad. I'd actually like to take the drive again in the summertime and on the scenic route through NY and Canada.
Immediately upon returning from Detroit, I had to move the contents of the storage locker I share with some friends from NJ to Queens, luckily I had some help but it was still a long two day job. Once we did that, we rested a day and then proceeded to pack like a lunatic (which I finished with the glorious help from my wonderful sis
gentlesoul22) for 2 days straight until that Saturday, then I filled a U-Haul and with the help of my brother and wonderful friends A & B, we got everything up to the third floor in record time. I did a few remaining trips with the car, (lj user="catelynn"> was nice enough to lend me her truck while she was on vacation) we got all the shit moved. We had two days to recoup and unpack before I retuned to work this past Tuesday. That was almost a relief. We unpacked enough to live for a while and got the last of the furniture delivered and put together and will now commence unpacking the room full of boxes and actually living in our new home. (If anyone wants to come and help out, come on down.)
Thanks to everyone who helped out with assistance, advice, and moral support over the last few months. Most especially to my partner, soulmate, and the greatest thing ever to happen to my life, my love Catherine. I think this time, that whole domestic bliss thing is gonna work out. :)
Today's video is an old fave the iPod decided to shuffle on us. My Mom played me the original as a kid and this version was just as good.
