Hello Kiddies,
If it's raining then it must be Sunday. We've been awful quiet around these parts for a variety of reasons. Yes the sog, slog and fog that is omnipresent here in the HSB gets a little more edgy in the winter months and just cuh-ray-zee during the 'Holidaze' so that's a factor. The '10 Days Meme' is going around again here and on Fetlife (where there seems to be a lot of writing going on in general) but I'm not feeling especially expressive to do that. Another factor is the fact that expressing myself in the written word may have finally jumped the shark for me. I say this because not only do very few folks hang on this particular social media outlet anymore but I don't pimp it as I should. Why spend hours writing music and book reviews if no one's gonna read that shit. This was pointed out to me recently by someone and it gave me some food for thought. Eh, these things should work themselves out. Life has been busy and full of changes, which I have reacted to both positively and negatively. Some days I handle it well, and others I fold like a cheap accordion. I'm just trying to keep it all together. We did our Christmas shopping for the boys last night which thanks to Amazon didn't require leaving the house. The Pop Culture Tree has taken a hiatus this year, as will several holiday traditions because of time and space. Our series of 'Tis the Season' holiday posts will depend on inspiration. This afternoon we are going to make a major step and milestone in our life that has been long in the making. Stand by for a major announcement kids. Speaking of milestones, you know how much we love the 'On this Day' and musical anniversary posts around here so we could hardly let this one go unnoted. This week (December 5th to be precise), one of the greats of Rock & Roll,
Richard Wayne Penniman, celebrated his 80th birthday!
I saw him perform several years ago, and if that was any indication of how he has aged, maybe Rock & Roll will never die. Here's a clip of one of our favorite Little Richard tunes that isn't always the first one that comes to mind.
