Hello Kiddies,
It's been a fairly busy few days here in the HSB, with a whirlwind of activity which has given way to whirlwinds of a different kind as Hurricane Sandy makes its way through. I think the most appropriate comment so far was from D.L. Hughley. "Sandys Coming!!! Who woulda thought something named Sandy would scare the shit outta everybody!!!" I saw a press conference from Mayor Bloomberg that would inspire anyone to get out of the city as fast as they could. Good Lord that man loves the sound of his own voice! I didn't nickname him 'Mayor Monotone' for nothing.
As during most natural disasters, Empire was open for business and we got most of the trucks out today. The commute back and forth to work today was awesome! I was there and home in 15 minutes! I went out to Northern Nassau County on the route and brought back half the truck because oddly enough some of the liquor stores decided not to open today. Go figure. They sealed up the truck and we're going to try again tomorrow. Someone took a picture of their mailman so it's comforting that both mail and booze will be delivered regardless of the weather conditions. Hurricane, Tornado, Blizzard, Nor'Easter, you name it, I've worked in it. I actually don't mind this because I don't have to shovel.
In other news, my permanent roommate has now made herself at home and despite my bizarre habits and schedule, seems to be intent on staying. There have been amusing anniversaries to write about but for now I'll just rest myself up and prepare for more fun tomorrow. Wherever you are, be safe and stay put.
Today's video is an old fave that really never got the props it deserved at the time but to me is nonetheless classic.
