I could get used to a cute Japanese check calling me "Pete-san" all the time (mmm, Benihanas).

So, I passed my "interview" to be a good cat dad/home/whatever with Stanford Catnet. Next steps are visiting the kittens I'm interested in, and I think they come out to my house to see how well I've cat-proofed it. To that end, I've been (with the gracious help of Laura) cleaning the crap out of my place and throwing a bunch of trash/old stuff away, and unpacking the last few boxes -- it needed to be done anyway. On the potential adoption list (if things go well) are Einstein and Coco. In addition to cleaning, operation "get rid of all the shit I don't use" has commenced. I sold one of my w2100zs to The Nuzz and I've got a whole queue of crap to put on eBay (iPod, TiVo2, gamecube, crapload of Cisco gear, etc).

Tia is coming tonight to pick up my Futon (I don't really have room for it), and we're going to hit up Starbucks.... mmm, craving Green Tea Frappucino (I know, I know). I broke down and got a window-unit air conditioner - the fan wasn't cutting it, and I won't be able to keep my front door open for air flow with the kitten.

Work has been quite well - I couldn't ask for more out of a job. I've already done initial oncall cycles (for two of the three oncall rotations I'll be in) with no problem, and things are just generally great. I'm finally getting over the "bootstrap" phase of a new job (which I really hate) and into the being useful phase.
