ion, cats, and apartments oh my

The comedy central roast of Pamela Anderson was pretty freaking funny. Anyway.

Einstein arrived today! Coco still isn't 100% OK with having another cat around (sometimes she'll play with him, sometimes she hisses and bats at him), but I'm sure they'll figure their space issues out soon enough. Mmm, kittens.

I finally took the plunge (on my laptop, at least) and switched to ion (3). Still learning the shortcuts and experimenting with scripts, but it's pretty cool. I think I'll be far more efficient with it. It'll probably be a few days until I'm comfortable enough with it to switch on my workstation at work.

Oh, I picked up a Safari subscription the other month and meant to write about it. I highly recommend it -- I'm not such a big fan of physical books, and full text search of all O'Reilly books is so useful. I should really write a greasemonkey script so all of my Google searches show a little snippet of results (in an iframe?) for Safari somewhere on the page.

I turned in my 60-day lease cancellation notice today (effective tomorrow, really), so I'm moving on (well, before) 10/15. I like the apartments I'm in, but they're just too damn expensive. I can move a few miles away and pay ~$500/month less and have about the same space/features. The only real feature I'll probably be giving up is living half a block off Castro St in Mountain View, but that's OK. It's convenient, but not $500/month convenient. I'm trying to sell a bunch of my crap (mostly computer stuff, a big desk, etc) so I can maybe consolidate into a 1-bedroom apartment. I don't use my second bedroom at all (except storage for all my crap, a desk I don't use, etc.) so it seems like a big waste. Ideally, I'd like a 1-bedroom that's ~700-800 sqft, with a big living area (don't need a big kitchen or an eating area, really). I might just end up with another ~1000 sqft 2-bedroom, which would be OK too, I guess.
