It snowed on Monday and now it's nice again.  Mruh?

So I was in the record shop the other day and picked up Okage: the Shadow King for ten dolla'.  The SO's right, I really can't go in there without buying something.  Maybe it's the incense...?  It does something to me.

I'm really enjoying it so far.  The gameplay is...about average for a JRPG, and a little monotonous.  The translation's a little quirky in places, and the urns, augh, the urns...  But the writing is adorable, so far there haven't been any characters that annoy me, and the art style is interesting, even if I wish more characters had shoulders rather than having arms that seem to erupt directly from their ribcage.

Not so sure about most of the fandom I've been able to find (and there isn't much).  Why all the hate for Kisling?  And here I thought he was hilarious.  He's a scientist, and attacks things by smacking them with books.  HE WEARS STRIPEY PANTS AND A CLASHING POLKA-DOT SHIRT UNDER HIS LABCOAT.  What's not to like?  He and Stan pretty much tie for favorite at the moment, though I'm fond of Roselyn, too.  Her epic quest, tee hee!  <3  But yeah, wtf, fandom?  Kisling is supposedly weird and creepy (for apparently no better reason than his character design and the fact that he's 45), but the idea of Ari/Stan shota is perfectly normal?  The internets:  sometimes I just don't quite get it.

Ari is unrepentant wishy-washy fail, though, and I like that in a plucky teenage hero.  I am considering selling his sword so I can watch him try to fight with the stick he found on the ground again.  :B
